The 2006 Folklorico Bootcamp will present Maestros Tizoc Fuentes Yaco and Naomi Marin Reyes "Maestra Mimi" of the renowned MIZOC Dance Institute of Mexico. Having influenced the careers of countless dancers, artists and folklorico directors in Mexico, the US, Canada,and Europe they are among the most respected
experts in their field.
Their workshops and classes are noted for remarkable instructional clarity and expertise in this traditional art form. Former directors of the Department of Folklorico for the Ballet Folklorico de Mexico de Amalia Hernandez, Tizoc and Mimi were honored at the Mizoc 30th Anniversary Celebration by this national
institution. Their careers also include serving as instructors at the prestigious La Academia de la Danza Mexicana del Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes. Maestra Mimi is recognized as a leading folklorico investigator. This workshop is designed for teachers, advanced dancers, performers,
and directors.
If you are developing or planning to enhance your program of instruction for younger children, here is an opportunity to observe Maestra Mimi at work. If you simply prefer to learn and have fun in a positive, professional setting, this is an opportunity you will not want to miss.
Participants can also earn college credit, continuing ed hours or contact hours!
The Bootcamp is an intensive two-week dance workshop. Classes will be conducted from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Mondays through Fridays. The content of the bootcamp includes Bailes de Tabasco, Huapangos de San Luis Potosi, Danzas, and Bailes de Epoca y Escolares. The workshop concludes with a final performance by all
the participants.
