The Latino Dance and Music Festival
Texas Woman’s University
Denton, Texas July 15-19, 2008

Gran Competencia de Cuadros Folkloricos

Guest Teacher Silvia Lozano
Ballet Folklórico Nacional De Mexico Aztlan

The Latino Dance and Music Festival at Texas Woman's University is perhaps the most important folklórico event ever held in the United States . While folklórico conferences have been  held at universities, this is the first folklórico event that attempts to create a bridge opening the doors of the university to folklórico dancers and to teachers who would like to learn folklorico. This bridge is important for increasing the number of the number of teachers capable of introducing folklórico to public school children and for increasing the number of folklórico dancers earning a Texas  teacher certification.
